Case study: Oceanside Auto Appraisers, a #1 ranking small business web design
Every business story starts with a challenge. For Oceanside Auto Appraisers, the goal was to turn hard-earned reputation into online reach — helping more classic-car owners find and book trusted appraisal services.
This small business automotive web design case study shows how Spine & Leaf Media built a stronger digital presence through clean design and practical SEO.
Website: OceansideAutoAppraisers.com
Business: Specialty auto appraiser (vintage, exotic, and custom vehicles)
Website purpose: Information about services and appraisal types, plus online booking and document submission
Project goal: Modernize the website, improve SEO, add booking functionality, and create a virtual community feature during COVID-19
What was the challenge facing Oceanside Auto Appraisers?
David Sampson, owner of Oceanside Auto Appraisers on Vancouver Island, spent years building a reputation as the go-to expert for classic, vintage, and specialty vehicle appraisals. His expertise was solid and his customer base was loyal — but his website hadn’t kept pace.
The site needed to load faster, be easier to navigate, and reflect the professionalism of the business it represented.
David wanted a refreshed site that:
- reflected the quality of his brand
- gave potential clients confidence in his reputation
- streamlined and diversified the booking process
- ranked high against other appraisers on Vancouver Island
Then the pandemic hit — and he needed something more creative still: a way to keep the auto community connected when in-person car shows weren’t possible.

How did Spine & Leaf Media solve it?
We rebuilt OceansideAutoAppraisers.com from the ground up with performance, SEO, and ease of use as the guiding priorities. The new site showcases David’s expertise through clean visuals and clear navigation, while giving customers the ability to:
- Learn about appraisal types and processes in plain, accessible language.
- Submit inquiries or documents directly, saving time for both sides.
- Book appraisal appointments online — a first for the business.

During COVID-19, we added a dedicated Virtual Car Show feature that allowed owners to upload photos and videos of their vehicles to a showcase page. More than 100 entries came in — a success that kept David’s audience engaged and expanded his reach well beyond Vancouver Island.
What were the results of this design & SEO project?
The redesigned site is faster, easier to maintain, and optimized for search. OceansideAutoAppraisers.com now ranks number one on Google for “auto appraisers on Vancouver Island,” generating a steady stream of new appraisal requests from across British Columbia.
As the site evolved, David noticed that some older clients were finding the online booking process challenging. By monitoring usage patterns and listening to customer feedback, we refined the system — simplifying steps and adding clearer guidance for users less familiar with web forms and photo uploads. We also expanded booking options to allow clients to schedule appraisals in other cities or arrange visits directly at David’s office.
“Derek completely redesigned our site with SEO services for small business — now we rank #1 for auto appraisers in our market.”
This project shows how thoughtful web design and SEO can directly improve both visibility and client trust.
Building horsepower with design
This project was more than a redesign — it redefined how a small, specialized business connects with its audience. By pairing solid SEO and intuitive user design with David’s passion for cars, Oceanside Auto Appraisers now drives its own visibility and conversions online.
